Explore a New World Beneath the Surface

Underwater Friends A-Z

About the Author

Csilla Vasarhelyi

Biologist, Educator, Author

I originally wrote Underwater Friends A-Z for my friends’ children, kiddos who live too far away for me to share my passions with in person. I wanted them to still feel connected to their fish-loving aunt and friend, even from a distance.

As I wrote, I realized that any child with a curiosity for the underwater world could benefit from this book. My younger self would have loved it! My hope is that Underwater Friends A-Z sparks wonder, encourages learning, and helps young readers fall in love with the ocean and freshwater environments, one fascinating creature at a time.

Underwater Friends A-Z Book Reading at Vancouver Aquarium!

For World Book Day 2025, with a generous in-kind sponsorship from Vancouver Aquarium, Underwater Friends A-Z had it’s first book reading!

It was a surreal experience to have a physical copy in my hands and share it with kids for the first time! And with a backdrop of the Pacific Canada Exhibit, it couldn’t get any better.
